My name is Hewan Mengistu, and I was born in Ethiopia. I spent my elementary years in Greece before moving to the United States at the age of twelve. Growing up in different cultures has given me a unique perspective and an appreciation for diversity.
Throughout my adult life, I have worked in various fields, including retail management, human resources, and mental health. However, I always felt a calling to give back to my community. It wasn’t until I discovered early childhood education that I found my true purpose. In 2020, I took a leap of faith and purchased an extended home daycare, which I have been running ever since.
Working with children has been a deeply fulfilling experience for me. I strive to be the best childcare provider and educator I can be, which is why I decided to go back to school to earn my degree in early childhood education. Every day, I wake up excited to welcome each child into my daycare with love, empathy, and gratitude. Seeing the children mirror my behavior and grow under my care is the most rewarding feeling.
My ultimate goal is to expand my services and open a center that can serve even more children. I am passionate about providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn and grow, and I am committed to making a positive impact in their lives.
